Course Description
Titans of civilization have been touched by the fire of the bipolar spectrum. The force of bipolar passions has powered cultural leaders whose
contributions shape the context of our lives. From Martin Luther, Napoleon Bonaparte and Vincent Van Gogh to Ernest Hemingway, Winston Churchill and Ted Turner, the impact of bipolarity has
affected many of the extraordinary people whose life’s work impacts us the most. California’s health insurance parity law mandates coverage for the treatment of people
with Bipolar Disorder. People in the bipolar spectrum are frequently seen in mental health practices. The loved ones and families of bipolar patients are adversely affected. Bipolar
Disorder is increasingly recognized in children. Bipolar Disorder commonly co-occurs with anxiety disorders, Attention Deficit Disorder, substance abuse, and other conditions
addressed by mental health clinicians. In this results-oriented workshop attendees will become familiar with the rapid evolution, and current state-of-the-art in treatment for
people in the bipolar spectrum. Psychopharmacology, cognitive and behavioral therapy, life management and wellness skills updates will be presented in an application-oriented
manner designed to enhance the effectiveness of the practicing clinician.
